Despite the continued evolution of Google's algorithms (which determine the ranking in SERPs) more and more implants to personalization (try using Google to sciveteci logged or not, and the differences that you notice!) and the Social Search (linked Google profile with Twitter and try to do any research!), ranking remain critically important as it is right on the search engines that takes the first approach of users to services / products.
But there are different approaches you can take to get results in this area, all characterized by a series of initials (SEM, SEO, SMO, SEA). Today we try to do a bit of clarity on the different positioning strategies and explain to our readers in simple words the meaning of all these acronyms!
SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is the set of activities of Marketing that aim to increase the visibility of a website, through the Web channel. Until recently, this objective could only be reached through activities designed to search engines ( SEO / SEM). Today social networks carve out an important place within this sector (SMO).
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) includes all activities designed to strengthen the position (and visibility) of a website on search engines, among the natural results (also called organic, ie no fee).
The SEO is essentially of two types:
SEA (Search Engine Advertising) is advertising in the search died, the purchase of so-called "sponsored ads, which appear on search engines and are managed through dynamic Pay per Click (surcharge).
SMO (Social Media Optimization) is the optimization of the profiles on social networks and includes all activities designed to improve the visibility of a company through social accounts (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, etc.).
Here's all summed up in our infographic. Share freely and tell us what you think!
